Meet Fred & Addie

Founders of Fred Martin Welding (1938-1959)

Fred and Addie Martin

The founders of our company, Fred and Addie Martin, embarked on a remarkable journey that laid the foundation for the legacy we cherish today. Fred's welding career began around 1930 at Bird-Potts Co. in Atlanta, where he honed his skills before venturing into entrepreneurship in 1938. He opened his own shop, Fred Martin Welding Co., Inc. at 134 Edgewood Ave. In 1949, the business found its enduring home at our current location.

Outside the shop, Fred was also a preacher, instrumental in founding a Bible College and establishing his own church in Atlanta in 1958, where Addie played the piano, harmonizing their faith with their craftsmanship. When Fred passed away in 1959, the torch was passed to his son, Fred K. "Bub" Martin, and his devoted wife Joyce, who continued the family tradition of excellence and dedication.

Continuing the legacy (1959-1995)

Bub and Joyce Martin, carrying forward the legacy of Fred and Addie, tirelessly ran the shop with unwavering dedication until their well-deserved retirement in 1995. After decades of crafting and serving the Atlanta community, they relocated to sunny Florida, embracing a new chapter of relaxation and warmth. With gratitude for their stewardship, they entrusted the shop to the capable hands of Marty and Kelly Martin, the current owners. Marty is Fred K.'s nephew and Fred Martin's grandson, ensuring the shop continues to be owned and operated by the same Martin family.
